Superior Quality Shetland Salmon Scheme
Under the Certification Scheme, participating farms and processors are audited at defined intervals to ensure they are complying with the strict requirements of the Scheme. All reports are submitted to the schemes Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for consideration. The TAC decides on the basis of the inspection report and generic guidelines whether or not to grant approval and thereby permit the use of the SSQC Quality Label.
The standards demand that salmon are regularly tested for quality and licensed and unlicensed chemical residues. SSQC inspectors collect fish samples, for residue analysis during surveillance visits.
So when customers see the SSQC Logo on salmon and salmon products, they know that best practice has bee applied at all stages in the production process. They know, too, that they have in their hands a safe, legal, and fully traceable quality product.
