Hatchery

The NAFC has a research scale marine hatchery supporting aquaculture and fisheries through applied research and development. Work has concentrated on marine species relevant to the Shetland economy. Research has focused on Atlantic halibut, cod and lobster with initial research into other suitable species for local aquaculture such as haddock and wolf-fish.

The hatchery is currently available for use in collaborative research projects, field courses, etc.
