Local Authority Bursaries
Students between 16 and 60 who enrol on any NC or SVQ course should apply for a Local Authority Bursary. There are various criteria which must be met in order for the bursary to be approved. Career Development Loans
A Career Development Loan (CDL) is simply a deferred repayment bank loan to help you pay for vocational learning or education. You can borrow anything between £300 and £8000 to help you fund up to two years of leaning plus (if relevant) up to one year's practical work experience where it forms part of your course. For more information on CDLs phone the DfES Career Development Loan Information Line on 0800 585 505 (8am - 10pm Monday to Saturday).

 

Small Firms Training Loans
A Small Firms Training Loan (SFTL) is a commercial bank loan offered in partnership between the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and eight high street bank at a guaranteed lower interest rate than a normal business loan.
