Dr Ian Napier

 

Dr. Napier was born and grew up in Shetland. After studying at the University of Aberdeen and the University Marine Biological Station in Millport he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food before returning to Shetland in 1995 when he joined the staff of the NAFC Marine Centre.

 

Since then he has fulfilled a number of roles at NAFC, including the development and delivery of new undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fisheries science. He has also been closely involved in the development of the fisheries research programme, and in the management of many of the fisheries projects carried out.

 

He is currently the Fisheries Development Manager at NAFC, providing advice and information on fisheries issues to the Shetland Islands Council and working on the future development of fisheries policy for the islands.
