Dr Chevonne Laurenson
After graduating from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology (Marine and Fisheries Biology) in 1997 I returned to Shetland and accepted a post at the NAFC. Since then my work has involved both lecturing and research.
In 2003 I completed my PhD: "Aspects of the Biology and Fishery for Monkfish Lophius piscatorius Linnaeus 1758 in Waters Around the Shetland Isles, Northeastern Atlantic", for which I was registered through the University of Aberdeen.
I continue to be involved in research into the biology and fishery of monkfish but during my time at NAFC I have also been involved in research projects investigating the effects of Technical Conservation Measures on selectivity of fishing gears and on projects investigating the biology and fishery for sandeel Ammodytidae species around Shetland.
